February 6 - April 25, 2015
FIBER Craft, Culture and Art, exhibition hosted by KANEKO. This exhibition will feature work from textile and fiber artists such as Nick Cabe, Sheila Hicks, Sue Knight, Rob Hillestad, Jon Eric Riis and the American Tapestry Alliance’s American Tapestry Becennial. Several events, workshops, lectures and more related to textiles and creativity will be hosted in conjunction with these exhibitions. Contact Michael Hollins, Program Coordinator at KANEKO, michael@thekaneko.org or 402-341-3800 for more information.

March 1 - 3, 2015
Tanzanian Fabric, Fun, and Facts Retreat (flier here)
The retreat is a benefit for Tanzanian Women's Scholarship Fund. We have a great time not only creating a table runner or a quilt, but learning a few Swahili words, trying on Kangas (traditional dress), sampling Tanzanian (East African) foods, learning about our brothers and sisters in the Mount Kilimanjaro area, and getting acquainted with fellow fabric lovers. We have a shop to purchase kits, fabrics, and handmade items.
Contact Mary Mayfield 402-778-0291 or mayfieldim@cox.net for questions.

April 17, 18, and 19, 2015
The 21st Annual Chadron Festival of Quilts is coming up April 17, 18, and 19, 2015. Our theme this year is “Hexagon Heaven,” and we are excited to discover how many ways the six-sided shape can be incorporated into quilts. We are working on an informative line up of demonstrations, and three of our most talented area quilters have agreed to present trunk shows of their work: Dee Belina of Hay Springs, Linda Anderson of Lakeside, and Kim McCroden of Crawford. Cliff Rininger of Rushville will be our first-ever gentleman Featured Quilter. Cliff never fails to “wow” with his quilts which range in style from traditional to originally designed art quilts. With his background in education and drama, you won’t want to miss his Featured Quilter Presentation on Saturday the 18th. Last year, the Festival set a few records: 450 guests, 250 quilts, and over 125 door prizes given away. Our goal is to top those numbers in 2015. Admission is $5 for the entire weekend, and you are welcome to come and go as you please. Be sure to check www.chadronfestivalofquilts frequently and/or like our Facebook Page to learn more about the show as our schedule of events firms up. We invite you to enter one or more of your quilts in the show as well; entries need not be hexagon-themed.
We believe that a weekend road trip to Chadron will prove fun and worthwhile for the entire family. With attractions like Fort Robinson State Park, Chadron State Park, the Museum of the Fur Trade, and Toadstool Geologic Park , there is something for everyone in Northwest Nebraska.

Calling All Small Groups!

The International Quilt Study Center & Museum invites Guild members and their friends to participate in Quilts for Community. In Quilts for Community, we provide your group members with a space to meet and work, free museum admission for the day and signage to explain your group’s purpose. In exchange, IQSCM visitors will have the benefit of observing quilting and quiltmaking activities first hand and up close.

Individuals or small groups are also invited to participate in Open Sew. Open Sew gives quilters a beautiful, open space to work while meeting new friends.

If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please give us a call at 402-472-6549.
